Here are five things I am loving and doing this week:

ONE

It’s spring and the flowers are in bloom.  I love all the tulips, daffodils, and more at the grocery store.

TWO

Big D lost his first tooth!!  I am not normally a really sentimental mom, but it totally made me a little sad that he is growing up so fast.  So the big question was, what is the going rate for the tooth fairy ?  How much do you give for lost teeth?  The Tooth Fairy at our house gave $1, which when Big D forgot to even look under his pillow until the next night I felt totally fine about.  Next time we are getting an official little tooth pillow , so I don’t have to worry about the money slipping under the mattress or something.

THREE

Our cuddle bug dog passed away last week.  It was somewhat unexpected (he was only 8), but we probably should have seen it coming (he had been having health issues since November).  On our last day with T-Dawg, Big D got out his instant camera and had an awesome photo session and showered him with love.  It was super sweet and a great way to remember our first baby, we miss you so much.

When a pet passes away, kids have lots of questions, so we picked up a few books on pets dying ( Goodbye Mousie and The Tenth Good Thing About Barney ) to read to the kids.  Not sure if they actually understand what happened, but something is better than nothing.  I found this awesome blog post with a whole list of good books to reference.

FOUR

One of the best parts about blogging is that I do a monthly roundup of kid friendly events in San Francisco .  I am constantly referencing it to get new ideas for what to do on the weekends when we are tired of the same museums, etc.  This weekend we went to check out the Presidio Officer’s Club Family Creative Fun (it’s free) and had lunch afterwards at Arguello .  It was a great way to spend an off-and-on rainy Sunday morning.

FIVE

One of my favorite spots for lunch/coffee/sweet treats is Swich (not sponsored).  Their baked goods are amazing (try the cookies, banana cream pie, green tea cake, or really anything) and I love that they give you a biscotti with your coffee.  They also have free wifi, great sandwiches, and their owner is super nice.  It is a total hidden gem.
